Suggested Price:$1.00

When Tyler was young and hung around with the street kids in Salt Lake City, there was one named Miles that had a dog and once in a while would pull out a shiny quarter and look at it. One day someone asked, “What's the deal with the quarter?”

Miles answered, “When the aliens come to pick me up in their pink Cadillac, I want to make sure I have the fair. Their economy is so good, I'll be able to go anywhere in the universe for a quarter.”

He disappeared from the Salt Lake street scene shortly after.

This song is dedicated to him.

Lyrics

span of my life’s
come clear figured at
47 more
28 and I’ve
waited here maybe not a life but a chore I’ve dimmed out my senses

you’re my hope
of a better life
I’ll have exact change
a better currency
to buy my bread
where interstellar travel reigns
and since you’re all
productive I can
come home to where I call home

I’ve got the quarter
like I promised you
I’ll have exact change
only don’t forget me

I’m so sick of the traffic the cars the noise and me I’ve got my dog
right pocket I’ll use
my left hand when I
give you the fare
I’ll be ready for you

I don’t mind standing room only
as long as I can stand
I’ll escape these shallow dreams
and see the universe along side you
only please take me home

you’re my hope
of a better life
I’ll have exact change
a better currency
to buy my bread
where interstellar travel reigns
and since you’re all
productive I can
come home to where I call home

I’ve got the quarter
like I promised you
I’ll have exact change
don’t leave me here
I’ve got the quarter
